Raising Women’s Voices for the Health Care We Need

Fighting for universal health care was part of the Network’s mission from the beginning. In 2007, five of us – Byllye Avery, Lois Uttley, Amy Allina, Reena Singh, and I -- co-founded Raising Women’s Voices. Our organizations -- MergerWatch Project of Community Catalyst, Black Women’s Health Imperative and the Network – worked together on this project for 15 years. We collaborated with dozens of state and local organizations to advocate for meaningful health care policies that met the needs of women and LGBTQ+ people. We helped create the biggest expansion of health care in a generation. The attached document covers the entire history of RWV and explains how the small, but mighty, project organized “from the grassroots up.”
